So I could sing the song "Pioneer children sang as they walked and walked and walked and walked. That is the tune of our day. BUT we loved it....our feet might say otherwise. We were able to start out the day by going to the Washington DC temple. We later walked "monument loop." The White House, Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial and the Smithsonian (Air and Space Museum). We walked and walked and walked and walked some more. We enjoyed the time together as we enjoyed the sights and discussed the special history there. I look forward to the day when our kiddos are old enough to really enjoy and understand the history in Washington, Virginia, Williamsburg, etc. ...this will be a great family vacation and a special time for them to experience church history and our american history.

We ended our day by riding the subway to the last stop that it took prior to our hotel from there we took a taxi to our hotel. We "silently" realized that we were probably not in the best area at the best time. The first sign of this was that we were minorities and that last subway stop was not in the "best" of areas. Fortunately, we found a taxi quickly and got to the hotel safely. We were later informed of the areas not to "be caught in on the subway or DC" and the "times" to not be caught in those areas. Wow! We were in all the wrong areas at all of the wrong times....I guess you could say that we were watched over! Crazy tourists!

Sounds like great fun. It is my dream to take the whole family on an American History tour as well.
